Onboarding and compliance

Everything between selection and a proper first day on site.

Selecting the right person is half the job. The other half is documents, checks, tickets, references, start dates and site requirements, done in the right order and visible to the client throughout. That is onboarding.

Why onboarding is a service, not an admin step

Most start-date failures are onboarding failures: a missing document, an unbooked induction, a ticket that expired last month. We treat onboarding as the work that makes a start date real.

1

Nothing is discovered on the Monday

Right to work, tickets, references, medicals and site requirements are confirmed before anyone travels. Gaps surface early, while there is still time to fix them.

2

Requirements set by the client, not a template

Site requirements vary by employer, package and regime. We agree what site-ready means for your project and onboard against that, not a generic checklist.

3

Visible to you in the BSR CRM

Each worker's onboarding status, outstanding items and expected start date are visible to the client without a phone call or a chasing email.

What onboarding covers

The steps that turn a selected candidate into someone who can badge in and start work.

Documents and right to work

Identity, right to work and employment documents collected, checked and stored against the worker's record.

  • Right-to-work checks completed before start
  • Document collection with clear deadlines for the candidate
  • Expiry tracking on time-limited documents
  • Records held for audit and client review

Tickets, compliance and references

Trade tickets, safety certificates and competence evidence verified, with references taken and recorded.

  • Ticket and certificate verification against the role
  • References taken and written up
  • Client-specific compliance requirements captured
  • Clearance pathway tracked where the site requires it

Start dates and site requirements

Inductions, medicals, site access and practical arrangements coordinated so the agreed start date holds.

  • Induction and site access windows booked
  • Medicals and drug and alcohol testing arranged where required
  • Accommodation and travel coordinated for travelling workers
  • Start date confirmed with the site and the worker

Client visibility through the BSR CRM

Onboarding progress, documents and open actions in one place, so your team can see where every worker is without chasing.

  • Per-worker onboarding status and outstanding items
  • Expected start dates across the whole intake
  • Document visibility for the people who need it
  • Activity history when something needs tracing

Client visibility in the BSR CRM

Screens from the BSR platform showing how clients follow onboarding progress. Shown with test data.

Where this fits

1

Volume intake onto a regulated site

Thirty people due to start over three weeks, each needing right to work, tickets, an induction slot and, for some, a clearance pathway. Onboarding is what keeps that intake on the dates you were promised.

2

Onboarding people you have already hired

A client with its own recruitment but no capacity to run compliance and start-date coordination. We take the selected candidates and onboard them to your site requirements.

3

Tidying up a chaotic intake

Workers arriving without documents, inductions missed, tickets expired. We rebuild the onboarding record for the current workforce and put a process in front of the next intake.

Questions

What happens after a candidate is selected?
We collect documents, confirm right to work, check tickets and certificates, take references, agree the start date and work through the site requirements. Each step is tracked so nothing is discovered on the Monday morning someone was due to badge in.
Can clients see onboarding progress?
Yes. Clients see each worker's onboarding status, outstanding documents and expected start date through the BSR CRM, so you do not have to chase for updates.
Do you handle IR35 and engagement model?
We help clients set the engagement model and confirm status before a campaign starts, then onboard against it. Statutory legal advice remains with your counsel where the matter requires it.
